Download your panels
- Open the set in the editor from Twitch Panels.
- Name each panel.Select a panel and fill in its Name. That name becomes the image's file name, which is the only thing that tells you later which file goes in which slot. Unnamed panels come out as panel-1, panel-2 and so on, top to bottom.
- Press the download button in the top bar.On a set it reads Download 6 panels (or however many you have) and gives you one ZIP named after the set, with a PNG per panel. A design with a single panel reads Download PNG.
- Unzip the download before you upload; Twitch takes the images, not the ZIP.
Each image comes out at twice the size of the panel on screen: a 320 wide panel is 640 wide in the file, which keeps type sharp on high-density screens. If a panel has a shadow or a glow, every panel in the set is exported with the same transparent margin (up to 28 pixels per side) so the effect is not cut off. That makes the files a little wider than 640, and Twitch scales them down to 320, so the panels look slightly smaller on your channel. With no shadows or glows the files are exactly 640 wide.
What you see in the editor is what is exported. Only what sits on a panel is included; a layer left between panels is not in any file. Rounded corners export transparent and show Twitch's page behind them.
Add them on Twitch
pulz cannot do this half. Twitch holds the panel itself, its title, its description and the link it opens, so the upload happens on twitch.tv. Twitch changes this screen often, so the labels below may differ slightly.
On twitch.tv
- Open your own channel page and select the About tab.
- Switch on "Edit Panels".The toggle sits above the panel strip. Nothing on the strip is editable until it is on.
- Press the + box to add a panel. If Twitch asks what kind, choose a text or image panel.
- Give it a Panel Title.
- Upload one of your PNGs through the image uploader.
- Paste the destination into "Image Links To".This is the whole reason the link is not in pulz. Twitch owns what a panel opens: your pulz page, a Discord invite, a tip page, anything.
- Press Submit, and repeat for each panel.
- Switch "Edit Panels" back off to see the finished strip.
Changing a panel later
- Edit the set in pulz. It autosaves as you go.
- Download again and upload only the images that changed.
- On Twitch, switch Edit Panels on and open the panel you are replacing.
- Upload the new file over the old one and press Submit.
Deleting a design in pulz does nothing to your channel, and changing the design in pulz does not replace the image on Twitch. The two only meet when you upload. To design the set itself, see designing a Twitch panel.
FAQ
Does pulz host the panel image?
No. The PNG is downloaded to your machine and uploaded to Twitch, so Twitch serves it from that point on. Nothing on your channel depends on pulz staying up.
Can I put a live number on a panel?
No. A panel is a static image Twitch serves, so nothing on it updates after upload. Live counts, goals and alerts belong on a scene running as an OBS browser source.
Can I export all my panels at once?
Yes. A panel design holds the whole set, and Download 6 panels gives you one ZIP with a PNG per panel. To keep a set consistent, select several panels (Shift-click) and change the style once.
Where do I add the link?
On Twitch, in the "Image Links To" field of the panel. pulz has no field for it, because the link is not part of the image.
How do I change a panel that is already on Twitch?
Switch on Edit Panels on your About tab, open the panel, upload the new image over the old one and press Submit. The title, link and description can be changed in the same place.
Can I format the text under a panel?
Yes. Twitch panel descriptions support Markdown: **bold**, *italic*, [text](url) links, lists and headings. A single line break is ignored, so leave an empty line between lines you want separated.
Why won't Twitch accept my panel image?
Usually the file size. Keep each image under 1 MB; a tall panel with a photo background is the most common culprit. Twitch also scales anything wider than 320 or taller than 600 pixels down to fit.
