Twitch Panel Size (2026): Dimensions, File Limits and Design

The Twitch panel size is 320 pixels wide and up to 600 pixels tall, and Twitch asks for image files under 1 MB. Anything wider or taller is scaled down to fit. Those three numbers are the whole spec; the rest of this guide is how to use them well, because panels do their work while you're offline, when a first-time visitor reads them and decides whether to come back.

Twitch panel size and dimensions

The width is fixed at 320px on every screen. The height is yours to choose, up to 600px, and the right height depends on what the panel has to say:

Panel typeHeight at 320px wideFile at 2x
Icon or button (Discord, Donate)80-120px640 x 160-240
Standard (About, Socials, Setup)140-200px640 x 280-400
Text-heavy (Rules, detailed About)220-320px640 x 440-640
Rich (weekly schedule, sponsors)320-600px640 x 640-1200
Twitch's limits: 320px wide, 600px tall, under 1 MB per file. Older guides still quote 2.9 MB.

Text size that stays readable

At 320px wide there is room for a title and a line or two of text. Around 16-18px at the 320px design width is a practical minimum for body text (32-36px on a 2x canvas). Twitch stacks panels on mobile, where small type is the first thing to disappear, so open your channel on your phone after every new upload.

An image is only half a panel. Each one also has a title, an Image Links To field that makes the image clickable, and a description under it. The description supports Markdown, which is how channels get bold text, links and lists into their panels:

Image panels and extension panels

Most panels are images. Twitch also lets you run interactive panel extensions (leaderboards, schedules, game stats) in the same strip, up to three at a time alongside one overlay and two component extensions. Use them for things that change; use image panels for everything that doesn't.

Which panels to make first

Every panel further down the strip gets fewer readers, so put the ones a visitor needs at the top: About, Schedule, Socials, Support, Setup and Rules. A schedule panel goes stale fastest; link it to a page that updates itself, like a Pulz schedule page at pulz.bio/yourname/s, and the image never needs a re-export. The Twitch panel ideas list has 20 panels with example text to copy.

Design rules for a panel set

  1. Treat the panels as one set. Same font, same padding, same icon style. Panels made one at a time in separate files drift apart, and the strip reads as assembled rather than designed.
  2. One typeface at two weights. A clean sans-serif like Inter, Manrope or Outfit at regular and bold covers every panel.
  3. Two main colors and one accent. Pick colors that hold up on Twitch's near-black dark theme.
  4. Preview on dark. A panel that looks crisp on a white artboard can wash out on Twitch. Transparent PNGs sit on the page more naturally than boxes with a solid background.

Free tools for making Twitch panels

  • Twitch Panels in Pulz. Lays out the whole set in a real 320px column, restyles every panel with one of 160+ template sets, autosaves and downloads 2x transparent PNGs as one ZIP. See the panel maker walkthrough or the free panel templates.
  • Canva. Freeform and familiar. Set the canvas to 640px wide yourself, and change the template's colors so your panels don't match thousands of other channels.
  • Figma or Photopea. More control, more setup. Photopea opens PSD panel packs free in the browser.
  • Paid bundles or a commission. Worth it when brand-aware sponsorships are part of your plan.

How to add or change panels on Twitch

  1. Open your channel and go to the About tab.
  2. Switch on Edit Panels above the panel strip.
  3. Press the + box to add a panel, or open an existing one to change it.To replace an image, upload the new file over the old one.
  4. Fill in the title, image, Image Links To and description. The link is set here on Twitch, not in the image, so no panel maker can add it for you.
  5. Press Submit, then switch Edit Panels off to check the result.

Once a quarter, open your channel logged out on your phone and click every panel. Dead links, an old schedule and discontinued gear are the most common reasons a first visit goes nowhere, and the check takes fifteen minutes.

FAQ

What size are Twitch panels?

320 pixels wide and up to 600 pixels tall, with files under 1 MB. Most panels work best at 100-200px tall. Design at 2x (640px wide) and upload the 2x file so text stays sharp.

What is the maximum file size for a Twitch panel?

Twitch's current help text asks for panel images under 1 MB. Older guides quote 2.9 MB, so if an upload fails without a clear error, the file size is the first thing to check.

Are Twitch panels still necessary?

Twitch still shows panels on every channel's About section, and they are the main thing offline visitors read. They aren't required, but a channel with no panels gives a new visitor no schedule, no socials and no reason to come back.

Can I use bullet points in a Twitch panel description?

Yes. Descriptions support Markdown, so start each line with a hyphen and a space for bullets, or a number and a period for a numbered list. Leave a blank line between paragraphs, because a single line break is ignored.

Can Twitch panels be animated?

Animated GIF panels are common. Keep the file under the size limit and animate one panel at most, because a whole strip of motion gets distracting fast.

Do panels help Twitch discoverability?

No. Panels are not a search or recommendation signal. Their value is conversion: turning a profile visit into a follow, a Discord join or a return visit.
